WhatsApp provides an AI facility for the convenience of users, even though these features are helping you people, but is the use of AI safe for you? Recently, Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma has alerted users by sharing a post on X (Twitter). In the post, he has informed that if you are in a WhatsApp group, then AI can read your chat. After this post came to light, many big questions have started arising about the privacy of users due to WhatsApp AI.
Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma not only gave information about the action of AI, but he also showed the way to crores of users how AI can be prevented from reading the chat. A screenshot has also been shared in the post in which he has advised turning on Advanced Chat Privacy. This feature is turned off by default, but if you want, you can easily turn it on.
What does WhatsApp have to say?
WhatsApp also responded to this post of Paytm's founder and said that many people have already said this, but it is not true. Meta AI on WhatsApp can only read what you want to share with it (it cannot access all your chats or contacts).
Meta AI does not turn on unless you mention it to use it in an existing chat. Your messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted by default; that is, only you and the people you chat with can read or share them.
How to turn on WhatsApp Advanced Chat Privacy
First of all, open the WhatsApp group in which you are connected.
After this, click on the name of the group.
After clicking on the name of the group, scroll down a bit.
On scrolling, you will see the Advanced Chat Privacy feature. You can turn it on by tapping on this feature.
These are the three big benefits of this feature.
After turning on Advanced Chat Privacy, no other person in the group will be able to save media files on their device, mention @Meta AI, or use AI features to summarize unread messages. Not only this, but no one in the group will be able to export the chat either.
