Vogue announced Chloe Malle as its new head of editorial content for American Vogue. The 39-year-old will take charge before the New York Fashion Week, which will be held from September 11-16.
“Fashion and media are both evolving at breakneck speed, and I am so thrilled, and awed, to be part of that,” said Malle in a statement. “I also feel incredibly fortunate to still have Anna (Wintour) just down the hall as my mentor.”
The appointment comes after Anna Wintour's exit as the editor-in-chief after being charge of the magazine for 37 years. Wintour announced her decision in June, but said she would continue as Conde Nast's global chief content officer and Vogue's global editorial director.
Who is Chloe Malle?
Chloe Malle is the daughter of actress Candice Bergen and late auteur director Louis Malle. Having graduated with a degree in comparative literature and writing at Brown University, Malle eventually took up an internship at the New York Observer, where she covered real estate.
Later, she turned to freelancing and contributed to The New York Times Style section and Vogue. She even created Dogue, a canine send-up of the magazine she had published twice.
Mallie joined Vogue as a full-time social editor in 2011. The role allowed her to mingle with the top brass of the fashion world while attending events and parties, regularly.
She then expanded her expertise to cover best-dressed lists, parties, hosted podcasts and became an editor for Vogue.
In August, reports circulated that she was in the final stages of an interview with top Conde Nast executives including CEO Roger Lynch and Anna Wintour herself.
