Eligibility Criteria for UPSC ESE

Candidates wishing to apply for the Engineering Services Examination must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized institution. Additionally, applicants must be between 21 and 30 years old as of January 1, 2026. This means candidates should be born between January 2, 1996, and January 1, 2005. Age relaxation is applicable for candidates from reserved categories.


Application Process

To apply for the UPSC ESE, follow these steps:


1. Visit the official UPSC website at upsconline.nic.in.


2. Navigate to the Examination Notices section.


3. Locate the Engineering Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2026 heading.


4. Click on the notification link to review the details.


5. If eligible, proceed to register by clicking on 'New Registration' and fill in your basic information, including a valid email ID and mobile number.


6. Log in to Part 2 to complete the remaining details.


7. Upload your passport-sized photo and signature, along with ID proof and educational documents in the specified format.


8. Choose your exam center and pay the application fee.


9. Print the final submitted application form.


Application Fee Details

The application fee is set at ₹200. However, candidates belonging to women, SC/ST, and PwBD categories are exempt from this fee and can apply without any charges.
