'Best beach in the UK' with crystal clear waters and white sand that looks like Majorca

A woman on a quest to uncover the UK's most picturesque spots recently shone a spotlight on an enchanting Cornish beach. Cornwall has been long-famed for its plethora of stunning beaches and natural beauty, and is a magnet for visitors from across the country and abroad.

Cornwall has long been a cherished holiday destination, celebrated for its dramatic coastline, white-sand beaches, thriving surf culture, and attractions such as the Eden Project and Tintagel Castle, reportsMirrorOnline. During the summer months, British holiday-goers descend upon the county for endless coastal adventures. Around five million tourists flocked to the county in 2022.

Lizzy Parkin, a travel influencer who lives in the Cotswolds, took to TikTok to share her latest seaside find in Cornwall. The views on route to a certain beach were descrbied as "absolutely unreal", pointing out that the location in question is Pedn Vounder Beach, nestled near the villages of Treen and Porthcurno.

She wrote: "I'm on a mission to find places across the UK that make people say 'I can't believe this is the UK' because as Brits, me included, we love to be negative about our own home but I'm trying to change that by sharing places that are undeniably beautiful and we're starting strong with a spot near Penzance in Cornwall."

Lizzy raved: "This gem of a beach looks straight out of Mallorca or Ibiza if you ask me, though the water is a little colder."

While the beach is "located on the most beautiful coastal path", Lizzy warned that the descent isn't the simplest, involving a "short scramble" to access the sands. She recommended those keen on visiting exercise caution on their way down.

Perched between the cliffs of Treryn Dinas, Pedn Vounder is acclaimed for its enviable turquoise waters and pristine white sands.

The name Pedn Vounder translates from the Cornish 'pedn', meaning head or end and 'vounder', meaning lane - so, 'end of lane'.

Cornwall Beaches also marked the beach as the go-to spot for naturism on the south coast of Cornwall, although Lizzy mentioned in the comments of her video that the shoreline was predominantly populated with swimsuit-clad visitors. Nudism isn't compulsory.

The allure of Pedn Vounder Beach captured in Lizzy's video made waves online, receiving 412,000 views, 45,000 likes and over 200 comments. One user said: "Pedn Vounder is the best beach in the UK. Took my breath away when I first saw it recently. As good as any beach anywhere in the world!"

Another drew comparisons with exotic beaches: "Just got back from Thailand and Pedn Vounder was as beautiful as."

Another said, "I can't believe this is the UK!!! Wow," as another person mirrored the sentiment, "Okay but I can't believe this is the UK."

Back in 2023, Pedn Vounder was the only UK beach to make the world's best beaches list, conducted by Big Travel 7, taking eighth place overall. Big 7 Travel said although Pedn Vounder does attract crowds it's "still one of the UK's most beautiful beaches".
