Young Bleed, whose real name was Glenn Clifton Jr, has passed away after being rushed to the hospital days earlier following a collapse. The rapper died after suffering from complications due to a brain aneurysm, it has been revealed. His son, Ty'Gee Ramon Clifton, confirmed the tragedy on social media in an emotional video where he said: "RIP to the biggest legend I know. As of November 1st, my dad gained his wings. This is a tough topic for me - not sure how it's going to go. But I am here to clear up a lot of false narratives." The heartbroken son added: "I know with him being a legend worldwide, all lot of people were concerned for him, they wasn't sure what they heard. So I'm here to confirm as his oldest child that he has gained his wings."
"My dad was 51 years out when this happened to him... My dad didn't have any real health issues; these are just chapters in life. I hope that after watching this video, people going through difficult moments will find peace.
"My dad, like most, as you get older, has high blood pressure. He would take his medicines... Once he collapsed, he did pass from the aneurysm, the bleed to the brain."
Young Bleed, whose gold-certified debut album was a Top 10 hit in the USA, started rapping in the streets of Louisiana at nine years old. He's perhaps best known for the song "How Ya Do That," which was part of the 1997 soundtrack for the movie "I'm Bout It."
Tributes have been pouring in for the artist on his son's comments section, with one person writing: "Sorry to hear about your dad, man. He's definitely a legendary man. Now u gotta carry the torch!"
Another penned: "RIP YOUNG BLEED, your father was a real icon, smooth with it on the mic. I send my deepest condolences to you and your family during this hard time." A third added: "RIP Young Bleed. Thank you for everything."
His son confirmed the GoFundMe launched by the family was legitimate during Young Bleed's hospitalisation - and wanted the goal to help cover funeral costs.
The rapper spent a week in the hospital before his untimely passing and was on a ventilator.
