Liverpool could be set for a significant boost regarding the fitness of new signing Alexander Isak. The Reds secured the striker's services from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day, following an agreement over a £125million fee.
After his move to Liverpool, Isak was selected for the Sweden squad for their World Cup qualifiers this month. Despite not featuring in the first match against Slovenia, he did get some game time in the second fixture against Kosovo on Monday night.
Isak was once again named as a substitute for the match against Kosovo, but this time he was brought on in the 72nd minute. The 25-year-old replaced his ex-Newcastle teammate, Anthony Elanga, and was given a brief cameo to build up his match fitness.
Despite Sweden losing the match 2-0, the same scoreline as when Isak was introduced, it was a valuable run out for the new Liverpool striker. However, Isak did pick up a yellow card just 10 minutes into his appearance.

The match saw further drama with Kosovo having a player sent off in stoppage time. Lindon Emerllahu received two yellow cards at the Fadil Vokrri Stadium and was dismissed after only seven minutes into his cameo after being introduced in the 84th minute.
Isak is now expected to return to Merseyside this week and could potentially make his debut for Liverpool at the weekend. The Reds are due to face Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday, which could mark Isak's first outing for Arne Slot's team.
It remains to be seen how many minutes Isak could get for Liverpool this weekend. The striker is yet to make an appearance in club football this season and did not feature for Newcastle during pre-season before his move to Anfield.
