Monty Don has been the lead presenter on Gardeners' World since 2003. The gardening expert has been fronting the BBC show from his own garden for over decade having taken a short break from the programme in 2008 until 2011. The on-screen star has been celebrated on the official Gardeners' World social media account in a candid announcement as Monty marked a huge milestone on Tuesday.

Taking to their X account it read: "Monty turns 70 today! Living proof that gardening keeps you young. Please join us in wishing Monty a very Happy Birthday! #GardenersWorld." A third penned: "A very happy birthday to the most genuine presenter on the BBC..."

"Happy birthday Monty Don! Looking cool and rudely young and healthy. Good luck to you, our favourite gardening guru," a fourth praised.

A fifth added: "Oh yes, happy birthday Monty for sharing so much gardening joy with the world. Enjoyed reading The Jewel Garden many years ago. Keep well."
