Tourists visit 'most boring place in the UK' to see if it's actually that bad

For years, the Berkshire town of Slough has gained a reputation of being one of the most boring places in the UK to live. For one, it's filled with closed storefronts and deserted shopping streets.

However, two tourists decided to see just how bad it really was. Taking to TikTok, Liam Dowling from Australia and Matt Giffen from Canada decided to spend a day in Slough to see if it really was as bad as people make it out to be.

"Okay, can a Canadian and an Aussie have fun in the most boring place in the UK? That's what Google and ChatGPT said is Slough," Aussie Liam said at the start of the video. "Come with us on a day is what's known to be the worst place and see if we can have fun."

"How bad could it really be?" Matt asked, seemingly having an optimisitc outlook on the town so far.

The first stop they made to was the local Wetherspoons, called 'The Moon and the Spoon'.

There, they met some locals and asked for recommendations of what to do. Amusingly, the punter swiftly advised getting back on the train to visit a different place, which surprised Liam.

The two men then went to sit outside, where they took the opportunity to ask more locals about things to do in the area.

One local admitted: "There's nothing here." And a surprised Matt asked: "Why does everyone keep saying that?"

The man didn't shy away from spilling his thoughts, replying: "Because it's a dump."

After getting Matt to take a shot, Liam said: "Now we're having fun." Then, the pair continued with their goal of finding something fun to do.

They ended up on the high street in central Slough, which some residents described as 'the worst place on Earth'.

One man also told them to not trust anyone in the town. However, they made their way over to Chicking Chicken Shop, which was one of the few placed they'd been recommended.

Despite it being located in a seemingly abandoned shopping centre, Liam and Matt were surprised by the food they got.

Liam gushed: "Bro, that is unreal. That's the most amazing chicken shop wings I've ever had. Slough might not have a shopping centre or anything else, but they have great chicken shop wings."

They soon ended up at another pub caleld The Brickhouse, before heading over to Slough Ice Arena for some ice skating.

"See guys, you can have fun wherever you go. You just got to do fun stuff," Liam said as they were skating around on the ice.

For their next meal, the pair got a pizza from Pizza GoGo. They rounded off the video back at the local Spoons, before catching their train out of Slough.

Summing up the experience, Liam said: "It's been an interesting day." Matt agreed, adding: Here's the thing, it's not a fun place, but we had fun together."

Liam also ended the clip on a positive note, adding: "The one thing I will say is the people here, everyone was so friendly, so nice... Slough, we had as much fun as we could."
