The entire 2024-25 season was a nightmare for the Philadelphia 76ers. Many people even question whether their star player, Paul George , should be waived. Fortunately, contrary to the rumors, he is still with the team. The false claim was made by a parody social media account. Additionally, the NBA player is still under contract with the Sixers. Last July, he agreed to a four-year, $212 million contract. Hence, the team is not releasing him.

Paul George remains with the Philadelphia 76ers as waiver hoax spreads during injury-riddled 2024-25 season
Fans of the Philadelphia 76ers have not been very fond of Paul George. Despite being a significant investment, he hasn’t been up to the mark. Many fans even wondered whether the NBA player was leaving the squad after seeing a social media post that went viral on Wednesday.

However, he was not waived, despite what the post from the fake account, NBA Centel, claimed. According to ESPN, the rumors may have stemmed from Paul George's arthroscopic surgery. It was performed on his left knee on Monday after he sustained an injury during a previous exercise.

The Philadelphia 76ers stated that their star player will start rehabilitation and undergo a new evaluation before training camp. After agreeing to a four-year, $212 million contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency last summer, Paul George is coming off a dismal first season.

Additionally, after receiving injections in his left knee and adductor muscle in mid-March, he was sidelined for the rest of the season. To concentrate on the season and his health, he took a break from his well-liked Podcast P with Paul George.

In one of the episodes, while addressing his health, he stated:

“I haven’t been the healthiest, so it’s just been putting a ton of work towards getting my body as healthy as possible, and to keep focus on obviously being here and trying to turn things around here, and the full focus is trying to get this team together.”

The Philadelphia 76ers were one of the NBA's most disappointing teams with Paul George in and out of the lineup. He is now on the second year of a $211 million, four-year contract. However, fortunately, PG has trust on the player and is expected to make $51.7 million this year, $54.1 million the following year, and $56.6 million in 2027–2028 as a player option.
